Indicted

The special grand jury today returned an indictment against Trooper Mitchell. Two counts of reckless homicide for the deaths of Jess and Kelli, and two counts of aggravated reckless driving against the Marlers. http://www.bnd.com/breaking_news/story/281069.html

It's far from over but it's a step towards justice.

I love this picture. Jessica pinched Maddy's butt just before I was taking it.

Kim, I'm so glad to hear that you are one more step closer to closure in this case. I saw the evening newscast on Fox2. This whole thing just baffles my mind. I simply can't imagine what you must be going through, but know that I pray for you and your family daily and hug my children even more than before. I hope you all can truly come to a peace when all this is finally over.
Your friend in blog-world,

great picture. a happy one.
i often wondered when police cars would whiz by me going more than 90 mph, if that was worth it them getting hurt. and in this case, others getting hurt. it's not. no scene is worth rushing to this way and i hope they change that soon.

i pray that in your journey to coping with it all, at every bend or corner where you can't see what's coming - you step fearlessly and with hope. i'm sure your writing gives hope to others.

I clicked on the photos in the news story to enlarge them. I gasped when I saw the car. Two of the boys came rushing over to have a look, and they also couldn't believe the wreck.

I hope that as painful as this is, that this is one step closer to you and Maddy feeling better. Keep going.

Kim,
I've been reading your blog for quite awhile now & have been keeping you & Maddy in my prayers.

The indictment can't bring your girls back, but hopefully it will bring some kind of justice for your beautiful daughters & peace to your family. Also.. that it will be an eye-opener for law enforcement, too.

What a great picture.

I thought of you this morning when I heard that on the radio on my way in to work. I hope, for your family's sake, that justice is served. I don't think there's ever a reason to drive that fast to an accident scene (the one on HWY 158 the trooper was driving to). Not even ambulances go that crazy fast.

What an awesome picture!!

It was interesting listening to coworkers dicuss the news on Friday..

No one can figure why anyone..except for a "hot dog" would ever drive that fast..even in an emergency.

hugs and prayers

I am at loss for words. I pray for you and family. As an Deputy, my recent training stressed the dangers of our bad driving habits. I'm very thoughtful of what could happen while I work, and I see other officers pull some dangerous driving. I hope that Standards and Training really stress on operations of emergency vehicles for furture officers. May god be with you, I could never imagine losing any of mine. I have 6yr Girl Hailey, 4yr boy Peyton, 3yr Step-daughter Madline, and My Wife and I are 9wks preg. I worry all the time!
-Again best wishes, and God's with you!
